World Mental Health Day 2023 Campaign

October 10th is World Mental Health Day! First observed in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health, a non-government organization, #WMHD is a global initiative to raise awareness and support for mental health issues. The global campaign aims to recognize the 75th anniversary of the #WFMH and World Mental Health Day, to engage individuals, communities, and institutions with the objective of empowering grassroots advocacy for the cause of mental health and its intersection with human rights.

This year's theme is 'Mental Health is a Universal Human Right' with the goal to improve knowledge and drive actions that promote and protect everyone's mental health as a universal human right. Mental health as a universal right to all people of the world aims to place mental health in a human rights framework to re-cast the aspiration of sound mental health as a fundamental human right.

World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to reduce stigma, improve access to quality and affordable treatment and care, the right to liberty, independence and inclusion in the community and encourage people to seek assistance if they need it. Having a mental health condition should never be a reason to deprive a person of their human rights or to exclude them from decisions about their own health.

Join the World Mental Health Day 2023 campaign to learn more about your basic right to mental health as well as how to protect the rights of others.
